A Quilt of Prayers

I am a kiwi living in Melbourne. A proud wife, mother and grandmother of two grandsons here on earth and Archie our heavenly grandbaby.
On a Sunday in October 2023, I was getting ready to sponsor a nine year old girl for her Baptims, Holy Communion and Confirmation, when I happened to have an unexpected small bleed.
I decided to go to the doctor the next day and it was said to be a dermoid cyst. I left with a referral for a scan and to follow up with my gynaecologist. I had another scan six weeks later and the cyst had grown from seven to ten centimetres.
My gynacologist rang me the following day - the Tuesday before Christmas. The decision was made for me to have a total hysterectomy, ovaries and cyst removed.
As my Gynaecologist couldn't do the surgery, due to Covid, she would ring around and find out who was working. She found a lovely surgeon who would be the surgery and afer a consultation it was scheduled for 28th December.
I have a great support of prayer warriors I called on, they were prayer withouth ceasing, as it felt like a quilt of prayers wrapped aroundn me.
Surgery was completed but all went well. We waited the following Thursday evening for the results. The doctor rang at 10pm to say that the pathologist checked the cyst sample and it was clear.
Carrying on she said he decideded to chaken it again and found I had ovarian cancer stage 1a. I was feeling totally calm. I remember telling my husband after tha call. "Did she just say I have cancer?"
Let's just do what we need to do, was my response to the news.
Another surgery was booked for 30th December to remove the omentum, as that's where ovarian cancer usually spreads to. The test results came back clear.
Thank God. I went to an oncologist eight weeks later and no further treatment is needed.
If you know anything about ovarian cancer you know is the hardest one to detect and is usually detected at stages three - four.
Alll doctors I have seen since my diagnosis have been amazed how I found it so early and the speed of which it was dealt with, especially at Christmas Time.
I got my Christmas Miracle.
God's timing is perfect.
