Calming the Storm

My son was in his early twenties when he was admitted to hospital to hopefully discover why he was having these grandmal seizures. I stayed at the hospital with him for six weeks.

One morning when I went to visit him the doctor told me that he had a very bad grandmal seizure earlier and they were going to medicate him so that he slept all day to recover.

I used this time to walk to a nearby Catholic Church to pray for him. I was in a state of despair and extremely worried about him. I sat in the church alone, looking at the coloured glass windows all around the walls and noticed the one exactly where I was sitting was of Jesus and the apostles in the boat where they were experiencing a bad storm, and they were afraid and calling to Jesus to save them. The caption under the picture said, “Our Lord calms the waters.” I immediately felt calm myself and knew then that my son would be alright. As far as I know he has not had a seizure since.

A few years later he married and when I enquired where the wedding would be he said, “At the church near the hospital.” I had not told him re my experience. He lived in a town 100 kilometres away and I found this amazing that he would choose this church.

Once again I see God working in our lives. I am forever grateful for the signs God sends that he loves and cares for us and is forever by our side.
