God is Present and Active
May Anderson
I’m in my 89th year and live in Hastings. I have six children, thirteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren and plays piano and guitar.
I have deep love for Jesus and Mary and hold dear the power of the Holy Rosary which I call our weapon.
I would like to share three brief experiences of God.
First: Many years ago, I was going to Mass on a special Feast Day. My home at the time was beside the Saint John of God Holy Family Home in Hastings. Backing quickly out of my driveway as I was in a hurry, my car suddenly lifted up at the back quite high off the ground. I didn't know what was happening and tried accelerating which just made a lot of noise with the car wheels spinning. I looked in the rear vision mirror and saw the brothers from St. John of God driving past my driveway also on their way to the Feast Day Mass. As I had a high fence I would never have seen them and without a doubt would have backed right into them. They didn't look at my driveway, they didn't see me at all. We were all looked after that day!
Second: I was very upset with my often-difficult husband and was hurrying to get to Mass in town, we were then living on a small farm about 30 minutes out of Hastings. It was early in the morning. When I stopped at Sacred Heart Church a man pulled up behind me. He got out and asked where I was going in such a hurry. I told him I was going into Mass and that I was running late. He told me that he had been driving behind me and had watched me at the last intersection drive right through another car. I told him I hadn't seen any cars in front of me and that I had to go. He repeated that he saw me drive through a car and he walked away shaking his head.
Third. I was alone by the Tabernacle in St Patrick's Church in Napier reading a story about Jesus talking to a lady and teaching her things. I thought, I wonder if He would talk to me? I turned the page and read the words, 'If you wish'. I felt scared and left the church. Later I searched through the book many times but never found these words.
