I am 68 years old living in Ōtautahi Christchurch and working as a hospital Chaplain, I have three adult children and eight delightful grandchildren all of whom are the light of my life.

Sitting in church one afternoon waiting for my children to finish school I was once again regurgitating the litany of all that I had done wrong, all that kept me from being holy and my feelings of inadequacy, that I was not good enough.

My mind was filled with the noise of my head chatter when a voice clearly broke through and said, ‘You are OK – just as you are.’ Those were the words!

I was filled with a feeling of joy – my heart was singing.

I spoke to a friend and told her what had happened, and she affirmed to me that it was God’s voice speaking to me and to believe what had been said.

Life did not change dramatically for me after this encounter, there were plenty of times when I fell, but each time I became more aware of Jesus helping me up.

I noticed the Holy Spirit leading me deeper into a life of service and slowly my life has become focused on God’s constant love for me, for His mercy is never ending.

I now know that I am truly OK just as I am.
