Not so Difficult to Find it All
Paul Borcoskie
I am a kiwi bloke married with two children living and working in rural New Zealand.
When I look for something in a drawer I don't always find it straight away. I sometimes need to dig a little deeper, move something around or even look elsewhere. It's not always obvious. Sometimes I even need someone else to show me.
I pondered for quite a while to find an experience of God in my life that resonated with me. I couldn't nail down just one experience. I know he is in my heart but only if I look for him.
You will always find him when life is on a downward slope but where else was he in my life?
So, as I drove my car one afternoon thinking about what I should write about I rounded a bend and there He was! A beautiful rainbow. I felt He had revealed himself to me. Not so difficult to find at all!
I guess this is where I see God.
He is in nature. The mountain views I enjoy every day, the cloud formations, a bright moon on the horizon, the stunning sunrises and sunsets I get to see. Or even the power of a storm and the following floods. These things have always resonated with me.
Just like life can be beautiful, there will always be changes in the weather and challenges to overcome. We can all hit rock-bottom. But I feel God is always there but only if I'm prepared to look.
The recent Aurora summed up my experience of seeing him every day in nature and His power to help us overcome obstacles in our lives. Even in these modern times where everyone and everything seems busy, or we just haven't got time, He was able to stop the whole world - stopping us from looking down at phones and make us raise our eyes to heaven and witness something so special to be a part of.
